Full-time PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN – WELDER

PRODUCTION TECHNICIANWELDER
MIG/TIG; Stainless Steel & Carbon Steel
Contract – 12 months

Summary of Position

The incumbent is required to perform a wide range of duties as necessary in the production
environment, as described in detail below.

Production personnel are required to be “generalists” rather than “specialists” and be willing to
be cross trained and move about the various stages of manufacturing as required by workload
schedules.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Welding/Surface Preparation
· cutting and welding of steel/stainless steel frames, supports, brackets, steel spools (beds) and coverplates
· grinding and drilling as required
· surface preparation and painting of above
· surface preparation for lining by others
· arrange disposal of scrap steel
· co-ordinate sandblasting as necessary
· ensure all necessary paperwork required is completed (blue sheets, etc.)
· report low steel quantities/requirements to Stores Clerk or Group Leader – Production
· monitor inventory of welding supplies and prepare necessary paperwork for re-order

Assembly
· sub assembly of pre-fabricated parts and components
· mounting of parts and components on frames
· assemble equipment including piping (cut, glue, weld plastic pipe (PVC/CPVC), airlines, labels etc.
· pump resin as required
· spark test linings
· ensure all necessary paperwork required is completed (blue sheets, etc.)

Electrical
· wiring and labelling of electrical panels
· assemble and mount electrical panels on frame
· external wiring – level probes/pumps
· arrange for CSA/Hydro approvals as required, notify all parties involved (Customer Service/Engineering)
· ensure all necessary paperwork required is completed (blue sheets, etc.)
· monitor tools and supplies and re-order as required

Machine Operation
· operation of various equipment – lathes, milling machines, etc.
· machining of various components (plastic – PVC/PP/CPVC) and at times other alloys (steel and stainless steel)
· maintenance of tools and equipment
· assist in the design of fixtures, tools, jigs and templates

Packaging/Crating
· preparation of systems for shipping
· building of crates and labelling crates/skids for shipping
· assist in loading of trucks
· preparation of packing list
· ensure all required paper is complete

Other Duties
· Attend training programs necessary to maintain/upgrade skills
· Perform other related duties as required by manager.
· Responsible for Quality Assurance.
· To compile the Stock Return \‘Pink\’ Form.
· To affix identification labels onto manufactured parts.

SPECIFICATIONS

Education : High School Graduate, Technical/Trade school
Experience : Three (3) + years related experience; Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel welding, pressure pipe welding experience is an asset.
Skills : Versatile, flexible team player, able to read Engineering computer drawings
